DAY 1: Tea with Mr. Tumnus
We met Mr. Tumnus the Faun on our first day. We have also been very impressed with Lucy who is kindhearted, and will do anything to help others.
Mrs. Johnston was able to get some tea from Narnia, so we were able to have tea together in Mr. Tumnus' cave.
DAY 2: Turkish Delight
We have already fallen in love with the Pevensie children...well, MOST of them...and have been shocked at the choices made by one of the brothers, Edmund.
Through the luring of the White Witch, we witnessed the power of sin, and the deception of it all.
The Turkish Delight tasted delicious, as sin oftentimes is "delicious" at the time, but then later leads to destruction. Edmund found himself wanting more. He "...thought only of trying to shovel down as much Turkish Delight as he could, and the more he ate the more he wanted to eat..." (chapter 4).
To truly enter into the story, we had to try Turkish Delight for ourselves.
I think it was a thumbs up for most of us :)
DAY 3: Narnia: Always winter and never Christmas
On the day that Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy all entered into the wardrobe and arrived in Narnia, they were very cold!!
We wanted to experience the winter in Narnia, so we sat on cold concrete and read outside. It's a good thing we had our winter gear on!
DAY 4: Meal with the Beavers
On this day, we were treated to a delicious meal by Mr. and Mrs. Beaver, and learned of the prophecy of the 4 thrones at Cair Paravel and Aslan.
Mr. Beaver caught fresh trout from the frozen river (goldfish crackers), and Mrs. Beaver fried it up for us. We also had boiled potatoes (potato chips), and bread with marmalade (Ritz crackers with marmalade).
DAY 5: Father Christmas
The White Witch's power was beginning to weaken...Father Christmas came to Narnia bearing gifts! We heard the jingling on his sledge. The children knew that it could not be the Witch's sledge because she took off the bells.
I told the kids that I brought gifts for them as well...a set of bells to place on their door. Every time they hear the jingle bells, I want them to remember the GIFT OF JESUS CHRIST that was given to them, completely for free.
They brought me to tears when they were singing. Such sweet voices!!
I am praying each day the the children would truly understand the gospel message that will be presented next week through the sacrificial love of Aslan.
