Reading in Narnia

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

Our novel study of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe has been an enchanting experience, to say the least!

We LOVED meeting the Pevensie children and Mr. Tumnus as Lucy stumbled into Narnia for the very first time.

We have been shocked by Edmund's choices to be so deceitful and unkind. At the same time, it has been an excellent representation of how we can fall into sin, and the temptations that come along with it. We saw how the White Witch lured Edmund into thinking that she was GOOD (Scripture tells us that our enemy is the "father of lies"), and played into his weakness of pride and selfishness.

The Turkish Delight tasted delicious, as sin oftentimes is "delicious" at the time, but then later leads to destruction. Edmund found himself wanting more. He "...thought only of trying to shovel down as much Turkish Delight as he could, and the more he ate the more he wanted to eat..." (chapter 4).

You should have seen the kids' faces when I told them that they can sample Turkish Delight for themselves!

You can ask your student if they liked it or not:)

We also wanted to experience what it must have felt like in Narnia since it's "always winter and never Christmas" there. So we bundled up in our winter gear, and read on the cold stairs!

It happened to be one of the coldest days of the year, so it was PERFECT!

When we met Mr. and Mrs. Beaver, we found out that Lucy, Edmund, Susan, and Peter were served fish and potatoes for dinner.

So we got to have "fish and potatoes" too as we read!

Our "tea" was hot Apple Cider. Cheers to Aslan!

Please be in prayer for the hearts of the children, that they would see sin for what it truly is, and that they would know that our Savior has come (represented by Aslan), who sacrificed himself for the undeserving.

The answer is...CHEMICAL CHANGE!

We have been looking forward to our Science experiment for quite a while. We've been learning about matter, and how matter can go through physical changes and chemical changes.

Today, we conducted an experiment to see what would happen if we mixed a glue/water solution with a borax/water solution.

Yes, the answer was a CHEMICAL CHANGE because a brand new substance of POLYMER was formed!!

I took a BUNCH of photos because their expressions were super duper cute. I'm going to post them ALL because I can't choose. They're all adorable.

And here are a couple of video clips to capture some FUN moments!
