The Last Days of 3rd Grade 2025

The kids worked SO HARD all year long! They deserved to have LOTS of fun, games, laughter, and creativity for the last days of school!!

On Tuesday, we got to build a trap to trap a Zoid (in conjunction with our quadrilateral unit in math).

What's a Zoid, you ask? They are creatures that live in the classroom, and they only come out at night.

The only way to catch them is to build a trap, but it HAD to be in the shape of a trapezoid.

They got SUPER creative and built 2 story traps in hopes to catch one!

We set up the trap on our tables. Now we wait!

In the afternoon, we got to watch the original version of the movie, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory!!

There were quite a few first-timers, so it was extra fun to watch it with everyone!

We talked about the differences between the movie and the book. Ask your kids which one they liked more!

The next morning on Wednesday, the kids were THRILLED to find out that they were successful in catching ZOIDS in their traps!

We took some time to train them so they wouldn't bite.

I couldn't believe that they were entertained for an hour and a half! They played and played with their Zoids. I loved watching them have so much fun:)

We also got to sign yearbooks with Ms. Garcia and Mrs. Perez's class (Miss Hellwig's class was watching Willy Wonka at that time).

And guess what! As her End of the Year gift, Mrs. Sarmiento gave the class an Ice Cream Party!! How very kind of her! She's the absolute BEST.

For my End of the Year Gift to the kids, I decided to give a sketchbook and color-changing markers to the girls since they loved to draw this year. I encouraged them to fill the sketchbook over the summer.

For the boys, I gave them a remote control car and a giant sticky hand. I told the boys to practice controlling their car, and then get together with other boys over the summer and have racing competitions!

Later on, got to play a few rounds of Would You Rather? They giggled a lot!

We also laughed SO HARD when we did a Mad Libs story about our 3rd Grade Year. Here's the story with the words filled in by the kids:

In the late afternoon, we got to play the games from home! Everyone had such a blast! Thank you for letting us borrow them for the day!

And then, here it was.

It was a bittersweet day. We are VERY EXCITED about the summer, and yet we were VERY SAD to say good bye!

We were determined to have an awesome last day, no matter what. So we started off the day with THE JOHNSTON OLYMPICS!

There were fierce stacking competitions...

...and unstacking competitions...

There were games with chopsticks...

...and spoons for the non-chopstick users...

Even the teachers had to get in on the competition!

There was a "blind drawing" contest.

Next was the game of Snatch!

We also got to go outside to play a game of Capture the Cone with Mrs. Barnes:

Then, we got to have our Dance Party in the courtyard area:

Finally, we ended our day with a Friendship Circle where we thanked one another for being such great friends.

I always love listening to their words of encouragement to one another.

At the very end, we thanked JESUS for giving us such a wonderful year together. He is the giver of all good things!

Then it was time for hugs all around!

I love you all!!
