PALEONTOLOGISTS!!
As a culminating activity for our fossils unit, we got to actually become paleontologists and dig for fossils!!
Here they are with their excavated items:
PLANTS!!
Our next science chapter is on plants and flowers. Of course Mrs. Johnston had to bring in edible plants for everyone to try!
We had some roots...
YouTube would not let me post a cute video of the kids crunching the veggies, so I took a screen shot of each student (Just imagine the ASMR...lol😊 ).
On another day, we got to do a science experiment on which edible leaf makes the darkest color.
Here are the results! Spinach was the darkest! Many of the kids' hypothesis were correct. Mine was wrong because I thought it would be kale.
PREPAREDNESS!!
Thursday, October 16th was the Great California Shakeout! We learned how to protect ourselves under the tables:
Then we evacuated the building like a fire drill.
After that, we walked around to the field parking lot. Don't worry, there were many staff members along the road to be sure the kids were safe!
Once we got to the evacuation area, we played games to help the time pass. The kids did a great job!
What an eventful week!! Thank you for sharing! 🩵
