DAY 5
Today, we got to read about one of my favorite parts of the book and movie: the "eatable" garden! I love the part where Willy Wonka drinks from the buttercup and then takes a bite out of it.
Of course, we had to make our very own "eatable" garden as well.
We used Oreos as the soil. There were earthworms, garden rocks, blades of grass, and flowers!
Then, we got to eat our garden!
Day 6
Today, Augustus Gloop fell into the Chocolate River! His greed and lack of self control got to him. We are hoping that he will be ok, and that he learns his lesson from the consequences.
Mrs. Johnston was able to get a sample of the chocolate river for us to try. It's a good thing the drink was ordered it BEFORE Augustus fell in, though. That would not have tasted very good.
Day 7
We heard about one of the greatest inventions by Willy Wonka today...the Everlasting Gobstopper! This candy is good for those who don't have enough money since it will last FOREVER.
Even though our candies did not last forever, we were still surprised about the different flavors and colors that kept changing! We recorded the beginning time and the ending time as well as the flavors that we tasted.
Day 8
Today, the class was astonished that I had a Fizzy Lifting Drink from the Wonka Factory.
We have this every year, but it has never, ever worked! I was really hoping that this would be the year where I could witness the children floating up to the ceiling.
Aww man, it didn't work again. Oh well. I will keep trying.
We weren't too bummed because we got to try something else today...the Lickable Wallpaper!
OF COURSE we had to sample it!
NEVER a dull moment in Mrs. Johnston's class...🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Day 9
We have enjoyed reading about the MANY brilliant inventions of Willy Wonka and his magical candies!
This has been another fun week! Using our imagination is simply the BEST! We are sad that Monday will be our last day of reading.
Please don't show the original movie to the kids...we will be watching it together later on.
