Before Thanksgiving Break, snow started to fall upon Room D13.
The books were set out, ready for the students to open and dive in to the world of Narnia!
It makes it all worth it when I see the faces of the kids as they walk in on Monday morning! It never gets old! ❅❅❅❅❅❅❅❅❅
DAY 1
Today, Lucy Pevensie went into Narnia through the wardrobe, and met Mr. Tumnas.
To the students' great surprise, Mrs. Johnston was able to import some Narnian Tea! The aroma was sweet and reminded the kids of apple cider.
The fireplace was nice and warm, and we spent some time in Mr. Tumnas' cave along with Lucy.
Here is a video of us giving a toast to Mr. Tumnas and Narnia!
Day 2
In today's reading, we were shocked to witness the lure and the temptations of sin through Edmund and the White Witch.
CS Lewis masterfully explains its deceitful nature. The Turkish Delight tasted delicious, as sin oftentimes is "delicious" at the time, but then later leads to destruction. Edmund found himself wanting more.
He "...thought only of trying to shovel down as much Turkish Delight as he could, and the more he ate the more he wanted to eat..." (chapter 4).
We discussed how oftentimes we start with a small bite of sin. But before we know it, we find ourselves rationalizing as we take more bites.
You should have seen their eyes when I told the kids that I had some Turkish Delight for them to try.
Watch their faces as they take their first bites of Turkish Delight:
Day 3
In today's reading, the rest of the Pevensie children finally entered into Narnia.
As you know, it's "always winter and never Christmas" in this land, so we had to prepare for the bitter cold.
(Mrs. Johnston made sure that it felt like Narnia and cranked up the AC!!)
Day 4
Today was a special day...we got to meet Mr. and Mrs. Beaver.
They were SO kind to share their meal with us. Mrs. Beaver boiled some potatoes (chips). Mr. Beaver caught some trout and fried it up (goldfish crackers). The freshly baked bread (Hawaiian rolls) with marmalade was quite delicious.
We enjoyed our meal with the Beavers so much.
We heard the name of ASLAN from Mr. Beaver, and we are eager to meet him soon!
Day 5
Aslan is near! Aslan is near! Do you know how we know? Because Father Christmas was FINALLY able to return to Narnia!!
(Remember that it was "always winter and never Christmas" under the rule of the White Witch!)
Of course Father Christmas left some gifts for all of the students in our class!
Let's watch the kids open the presents...
We are truly looking forward to next week's reading as Aslan enters into the story.
"Wrong will be right, when Aslan comes in sight.
At the sound of his roar, sorrows will be no more,
When he bares his teeth, winter meets its death.
And when he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again."
Live this so much! Thank you for sharing!
