END OF THE YEAR ACTIVITY DAY!!
(Wednesday, 5/29, 2024)
Yesterday, we set up a trap! We wanted to catch Zoids, which are creatures that hide in the corners of the classroom. The trap had to be in the shape of a trapezoid. (Get it? Trap-a-Zoid??)
In the morning when the kids walked into the classroom, they were all amazed that the trap actually worked...there was a Zoid inside of each trap! The kids got quite creative with the set-up.
The students had the best time training the Zoids, feeding them, and introducing them to their desk pets.
After that, we had our awards assembly! I'm so very proud of everyone for their accomplishments this year.
Shortly after the assembly, it was already time for lunch. We enjoyed pizza, chips, and juice. It was a perfect day for a picnic!!
The activity after lunch was our line dancing time with Miss Rice! We got to learn the Electric Slide and the Cupid Shuffle.
Here we are warming up with some exercises and stretches:
And here's a video of our line dancing:
Next, we got to go out to the field for the inflatables! By this time, it was getting pretty hot, so we really appreciated the snow cones. The popcorn was delicious, too!
The kids were running around everywhere, so I tried to snap as many photos as I could. I truly am sorry if I missed anyone.
It was fun to play with all 3 classes together!
At the very end of the day, I was shocked to find out that there was a surprise birthday party for me!!
Thank you so much to Mrs. Sarmiento, Mr. Salazar, Mrs. Seals, and the other parents who were involved in the sneaky surprise!! Your gifts were so very generous!! THANK YOU EVERYONE!
THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL
Thursday, 5/30/2024
We had been signing yearbooks in the classroom, but we also wanted to get autographs from our friends in the other classes as well. So we spent some time in the morning doing just that:
We also wrote letters to the incoming 3rd grade class, and gave them advice on homework, AR, classroom rules, etc.
Finally, we got in a circle at the end of the day, and spoke words of appreciation to one another. It was a very special time of encouragement and affirmation.
We ended with hugs and good byes. Yes, there were a lot of tears. What a very special group this was!
Parents, thank you again for the gift of your children. My life has been enriched because of these amazing kids.
Please remember to keep Jesus at the CENTER of your family. He is the One we can go to for parenting heartaches and joys, and for keeping our marriages together. Jesus is the God of peace, comfort, love, forgiveness, and reconciliation.
Superstar Parents of Mrs. Johnston's class, that's a wrap.
