What a wonderful week of learning we have had in Narnia! The classroom was decorated to set the scene...
Books were ready to be handed out to the students, and prayers were lifted up to our Lion of Judah, that each child's heart would be prepared to hear of Jesus' sacrifice on their behalf.
DAY ONE
Lucy Pevensie was the first of the siblings to enter into Narnia. She met Mr. Tumnus, and they had tea together.
DAY TWO
Today was an important day of making the connection between the Turkish Delight and the lure of sin.
CS Lewis masterfully explains its deceitful nature. The Turkish Delight tasted delicious, as sin oftentimes is "delicious" at the time, but then later leads to destruction. Edmund found himself wanting more.
He "...thought only of trying to shovel down as much Turkish Delight as he could, and the more he ate the more he wanted to eat..." (chapter 4).
DAY THREE
Today was the day that all four of the Pevensie children stepped into the wardrobe into the land of Narnia.
Since it was "always winter and never Christmas", we wanted to experience the cold ourselves while we read the next chapters.
DAY FOUR
We got to meet Mr. and Mrs. Beaver today! They were so very kind to pack us some "to-go" plates of their delicious meal.
As you can see, we got to eat some boiled potatoes, warm baked bread, freshly caught trout, and marmalade!
We were thrilled to hear some of the prophecies of what Aslan will do when he comes!
DAY FIVE
We are beginning to see the White Witch's power weakening already!
How do we know? Because Father Christmas was able to return to Narnia today!
I told the kids to place the bells on a door...and every time you hear its sound, think of Jesus coming to rescue us!
Please continue to pray for the hearts of our children as we continue our reading for WEEK TWO.
Pray that each heart would understand the sacrifice of Jesus through The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe.
