They were kind enough to allow our students to experience what life must have been like in the Colonial times. We got to churn the butter...
...grind some wheat into flour...
and roll some dough into biscuit sized balls.
We had a few kids who got into the cleaning chores!
Next, the kids got to experience some old time toys.
They learned that they can actually have FUN without any electronics!!
Candle dipping was a new experience for many. We learned that they had to dip it at least 100 times to get the candle to become nice and thick. That's a lot of work just to have some light.
"Master Speedy" taught us about their daily supplies and how each item is used. Too much information on how to kill the enemy, though...
These kids also demonstrated how to properly greet a lady and a gentleman. You both were such a good sport about it!
Thanks also to these kids for showing us how to ask a lady for a dance, and how to kindly accept or decline! LOL!
Finally, the quill and ink station was also a hit. By the end, though, we were ready to go back to our pencil and pen.
After lunch, we took a class picture. Of course we had to do some silly faces. But the true stars of the show were the photo bombers in the background.
Be sure to enlarge the background to see our crazy chaperones:)
THANK YOU to our chaperones who hung in there with us even though it got pretty cold. At least we'll get to enjoy the APPLE PIES TONIGHT! Don't forget the vanilla bean ice-cream and whip cream over the warm pie. I can't wait!
