The Power of Sound!

Welcome to the very first blog of the 2017-2018 school year! The purpose of the classroom blog is for the parents to get a little glimpse of what the students experience during the school day. When my kids were in elementary school, I remember loving seeing the photos of classroom activities. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

In science, we have been learning about all kinds of ENERGY. We recently performed a science lab in which we attempted to move an object solely with the energy of sound.

We learned about compression waves, vibration, and the effect of how distance or volume could change the outcome of our experiment.

In these action pics, the students are saying "Ahhhh" near a cup covered in saran wrap with salt sprinkled on top.

They observed the effect of the sound waves. They were delighted to see the salt particles dance off of their cups!

Like true scientists, they wrote down their predictions                       and their observations.

Don't you just LOVE the attitude of this cute little scientist?! :)

Yes, I tried my very best to make them crack up as I took the photos...successful for some, but not for others!

I LOVE ALL OF MY SCIENTISTS!!!
