"Funnest Science Class EVER!"

"This is the FUNNEST science class ever, Mrs. Johnston!"

I LOVE to hear my kids say those words.

Our lab started with a hypothesis...would there be a PHYSICAL or a CHEMICAL change by mixing glue, water, and Borax?

First, they emptied out the glue bottle and made a nice, watery mixture. The students wrote out their observations by noting the properties of this glue mixture.

Next, they dissolved the Borax powder and slowly added it to the bowl...

I love capturing the first moments of when they see the immediate changes in their experiment!

Their smiles make me SO HAPPY!!!!!

After completing their analysis of the changes, they got to take their new substance, the POLYMER, and just play with it!

So much creativity and joy!

The students learned that this was indeed a CHEMICAL change since a brand new substance called polymer was created, and they also could not "bring back" the Borax nor the glue.

Excellent job, class! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
