Super-Duper Jog-a-Thon

Upland Christian Academy is SUPER blessed to have a group of dedicated parents who truly care about our school. This time, IMPACT wanted to do something that would raise some funds specifically for our Elementary department.

Today, we had our very first Super Jog-a-Thon with tons of superheros running around:)

Our principal, Mr. Barnes, came in his Superman costume of course, complete with his red bath towel...urr...flying cape.
Not to be outdone, I changed into my super T-shirt and joined in the fun!

We had some great runners out there today.

They kept running...
And running...

And running! This supergirl was running so fast that I caught her flying off the ground!!

Yes, Amari, you deserve to have a little break:) He ran hard, too!

So these girls were posing for a cute picture when out of nowhere...

Came the best. photo. bomb. ever. LOL!!!!!!!

Yes, we see you back there Taleah.

Look at those muscles!
                                                         Such a cool dude:)

Here's Batman...

                                                                         ...and there he goes...

What a SUPER CUTE group of upper elementary teachers!!

We LOVE Mrs. Currier, our Assistant Principal!!!

Snow Cone time was the absolute BEST!

There they are, working hard everywhere we turn.

I LOVE THESE GIRLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THANK YOU again, Impact, for an exciting afternoon of FUN FUN FUN!!!!! Hopefully we sent them home completely exhausted and ready for bed by 7pm. (ha)

American Indian Project

TODAY (3/18/2015) was the big day! Everyone was SO excited about bringing in their American Indian Project!!

Thank you parents and grandparents for guiding your students along this past month and a half.

I loved seeing everyone's creativity in the materials they chose.
One of the things they shared during their oral presentation was, "Would you like to live with your Indian tribe? Why or why not?"
We giggled at some people's answers...a couple of students said that they did not want to live with their tribe because it's TOO MUCH WORK...hunting and sewing and gathering berries...ugh!!

I am extremely proud of all of them!! GREAT JOB, boys and girls!!

Biome Research

The students have been working hard on their biome research in class. I'm still amazed at how much they can do on the computer...at 8 or 9 years old, they know where to click and how to get to places to learn more about science. (Don't worry...with careful guidance, of course. They are not allowed to roam freely on the internet.)

I also appreciated how well they worked together with their partners. They were kind and considerate, and communicated very effectively. These are skills that will come in useful every day of their lives:)

Look at their focus and concentration!

We have some wonderful independent workers in this class!!
