FEAST FRIDAY

What a great (and LONG) Friday before Thanksgiving break!

First, we took our Bible, Spelling, and Journeys assessments.

Next, our turkeys and chefs were center-stage, posing for photos.

Then, we took pictures of our Wall of Gratitude. Guess what the grand total of items were?

2,000!!

Yes, some things were a "stretch" (haha), but the point is that the kids were constantly thinking of things that they were thankful to the Lord for. It was a great exercise!

Here is an impromptu video of some of the things your kids were thankful for:

We were SO VERY BLESSED to have Mr. Rice (Miss Rice's dad) come to sing worship songs with both of our classes!!

He taught us songs that his dad wrote, so it was extremely special. I loved listening to the children express their love to Jesus through songs of adoration to Him.

Here are some video clips of our time together:

The feast was DELICIOUS! Thank you to all of the volunteers who worked so hard to prepare everything for us.

After lunch and recess, we watched the movie Free Birds, which had a direct connection to our Opinion Writing: Should turkey be the main dish for Thanksgiving?

We ended our day with the Spirit Rally...and I was ready for bed by 7:30pm.

I want to express my gratitude to my awesome students who make my job an absolute JOY each day. And thank you to their families who support and encourage me...you are amazing.

Most of all, I thank Jesus for his grace in my life...I cannot imagine life without him!!!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

Research Time

In social studies, we learned about the man-made and God-made landmarks all over the United States.

They chose one, and did a miniature research on the landmark, and made a travel poster.

I will be visiting their Travel Office where each travel agent will try to convince me to go to their destination.

We will see who the winner is later on this week:)

CHEMICAL CHANGE: POLYMER!

In science, we have been studying matter. The kids recently learned the difference between a chemical change and a physical change.

Today, they got to do an experiment of mixing a glue/water solution with Borax/water solution.

Their job was to determine if the change was  physical or chemical.

The kids knew as soon as they added the Borax solution to the glue.

A brand new substance was created: POLYMER!

They knew this because they couldn't extract the glue from the polymer, and couldn't get the powdered Borax out of it, either. A chemical reaction had taken place.

Judging from the smiles on the faces of the kids, they LOVED the experiment!

Who knew science could be SO MUCH FUN!

WE LOVE SCIENCE!
