Say "AHHHHHHHHH"!!!!

Science is a LOT of fun when we can do LOUD experiments! The students were able to see how sound energy can move things without them ever touching the object.

A sheet of cling wrap was tightly placed on a cup, and we sprinkled some salt on top.

We started off with a soft "ahhhh" sound. Nothing happened, as predicted.

Then we became louder and louder, and watched our salt particles dance and even fall off the surface!

Our scientists did a great job on their predictions and observations.

We will have more labs coming our way. Stay tuned!

A Wonderful Start of 2015-2016!!!

Welcome to a brand new year! We have had an awesome start of our school year. The kids are learning our classroom rules and procedures, and are getting used to the routine.

Thank you parents for purchasing all of the school supplies. I know that was a lot of work, and a lot of money. We certainly appreciate it, and will use our materials throughout the year with thankful hearts.

Enjoy some pics of our first couple of days:

Here we are on the first morning...who's more nervous...the kids or the parents??

I absolutely LOVE this photo. What a privilege it is to attend a school that begins the year by covering our students, staff, and families in PRAYER!

Here are some shots of partner work...we work together in groups ALL of the time. One of our 3rd grade skills is to learn how to communicate effectively with others, even when we don't agree:)

Here they are in Social Studies, learning to identify the 7 continents and the 5 oceans. I spend a lot of time on this at the beginning of the year...my goal is that if one of our kids are interviewed by a nighttime talk show host randomly, they would be able to answer WHERE THEY LIVE correctly!! :)

In these photos below, I know that the kids are mostly looking down. I didn't want to bother them since they were all focused on trying to find their "text evidence" for their comprehension questions.

Such a hard working class. Proud of all of you!!
