Book in a Box Projects

What an EXCELLENT "Book in a Box" presentation the students had! I was smiling from ear to ear as I listened to them share their items and show off their creativity.

I can't wait to see the next round of reports! Remember that you can read any chapter book AT YOUR LEXILE LEVEL, and you can choose ANY project (except for Book in a Box and Powerpoint).

If you are ever unsure about the level of your student's book, go to www.lexile.com, and type in the title of the book. It will tell you the level of that book.

Due date: Friday, October 28th!

Say "Ahhhhh" !!!

We have been learning about different kinds of ENERGY in science class. The students got to see first hand how sound carries energy...and the proof was in the salt!!

At first, some students did not believe that they could actually move something with only the energy of sound (without touching or blowing)! We had a variety of predictions.

They were surprised to find how strong the vibrations were that made the salt dance off of the cup!

They also experimented with the distance as well. How close did they have to be to see the salt move?

What was the farthest distance they could be for the sound energy to reach the cup?

We also took some time today to quiz each other on the vocabulary for this chapter. They did a great job challenging one another, and helping their partner get the answers right.

I'm proud of all of you!!

Welcome 3rd Grade Superstars!!

Welcome to the very first blog of 2016-2017!! We have had such a wonderful start. I am thankful to the Lord for placing each of your children in my class this year.

I am also extremely grateful to the Lord for putting together our 3rd Grade Team! I love having Mrs. Krueger as my teaching partner (and our Social Studies teacher) as well as Mrs. Serrano.

I cannot begin to tell you how wonderful it has been to have Miss Rice in our classroom. She is energetic, loving, and efficient...she is pretty much a teacher's dream come true :)

We got to have our very first Spirit Rally on Friday! Unfortunately, we did not win the Eagle for having the least number of tardies and absences. Let's keep school attendance our priority! Just take a look at these adorable Disney characters:

Don't you just love the crazy screams of the boys (above)? They were quite excited about the new Olympic Sport that I introduced...plate skating and banana phone relay!!

Just a quick note regarding the pictures. It is not my intent to exclude your child on purpose :) I take as many random pictures as I can, and use the ones that actually turn out. I will try to get everyone as best as I can, but I can't guarantee it each time. Thank you for your understanding.
