CHARLIE and the CHOCOLATE FACTORY WEEK 1 (2025)

Welcome to the magical world of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!

DAY 1

We learned that Charlie Bucket was very poor. He could afford to buy only 1 chocolate bar per year on his birthday.

He would nibble on it and make it last for an entire month!

Here is a video of us sniffing and nibbling a small bar of chocolate. Mrs. Johnston gave a challenge to see who could make it last the longest!

At the end of the day, I checked to see who had the largest bar left over, and it was Enoch! Way to go, buddy!

Day 2

Today, we met the first two Golden Ticket winners! Augustus Gloop was someone who struggled with self control.

Veruca Salt struggled with selfishness, and was simply a spoiled brat!

We wanted to find some Golden Tickets, too! Mrs. Johnston hid 5 tickets around the room. Here was our hunt:

Congratulations to our ticket finders!

Day 3

Today, we met the next two winners of the Golden Ticket.

Violet Beauregard was a gum-chewer who was rude and had poor manners. Mike Teavee was obsessed with screen time, and was influenced terribly by the violence he watched on TV.

It is very interesting how the author, Roald Dahl, foreshadowed the problems that young children would have in the future. Even in 1964, he knew that too much screen time (TV) and violence would affect their minds negatively!

So today, we pretended to be like Violet, and smacked on some gum, and had a bubble blowing contest! Those with braces or kids who didn't want to do it were the judges.

Here they are practicing...

Chey! Too bad this was the practice round...you would have won the contest!

Here's a little snippet of the contest:

The winners were Acielle and Jax! Congrats!

I had to give it a try myself...

Also today, each student got a miniature Wonka Bar to take home! I asked them to open it AT HOME. If and only if they were the Golden Ticket winner, they were supposed to send me a picture. We had a GOOD BATCH this year!!!

Day 4

Today, Charlie Bucket finally got his golden ticket! We were SO excited for him!!

He and Grandpa Joe will get to go inside the Chocolate Factory.

We got to pretend to be the workers in the factory, and made taffy using marshmallows. Don't worry, moms...we cleaned our hands well before doing this 😊.

Now, time to eat the taffy:

This has been such a fun week!

We can't wait to meet Willy Wonka next week and continue on this magical adventure!
